Max-Flow 88 4500 on a 4x4, pressure drop!

Hey, i just got my 4500 88ci Max-Flow tank, filled it up to 4500, out it in the car, took it out, it was down to 3500, it didnt drop from there on, but that scared me a lil, what could it be?
Also, it doesnt seem as efficient as promised. I've heard people say you get 1000 shots out of tha tnak on a shocker, mine seems to be a lot less. Do you think i should time the bolt and firing piston better? what could it be?
