timing problems

my problem is that the bolt is catching a ball about half way into the chamber. i've tried different timing settings and they don't seems to stop it. also i've tried putting in one ball at a time and when i shoot it, it makes the ball jump out of the feed tube. i thought that the ball was supposed to get sucked into the breech. i guess what i really need to know is what timing settings i need to be at. i also remember seeing a chart somewhere that told what the different settings did. where can i find this info?
