I run a 9v on my shocker with the cheapie conversion. The shockers factory battery is 6v.....I heard a few other numbers mentioned, but it is most defintely 6 volts.

First off, I highly recommend against using a fresh 9v. I usually use a run-down hopper 9v, as these will register between 6 and 8 volts, depending on how dead they are.

Using the 9v is pretty safe, just use caution if all you have is a fresh 9v!
