In fifteen short years, the sport of paintball has become recognized as one of the world’s most exciting outdoor participation sports. And now Nemacolin Woodlands Resort will host one of the year’s largest tournaments for Paintball Sports Promotions and the NXL. Paintball enthusiasts will visit Southwest Pennsylvania for this year’s Northeast Open August 24-29, 2004. Fields will be set for 5-Man, X-Ball, and 10-Man team games.

The NXL is the premier professional paintball league in the country comprised of nine teams from San Diego to Philadelphia. The teams include: Baltimore Trauma, Chicago Aftershock, Detroit Strange, Los Angeles Ironmen, Miami Effect, New York Xtreme, Oakland Assissins, Philadelphia Americans, and San Diego Legacy. All of the nine teams will compete at the Northeast Open held at Nemacolin Woodlands.

“I expect to have in the neighborhood of 100 teams, and we will construct eight separate playing fields. We may be using a new netting system for the first time at this event. A prototype has been made and is being tested,” said Lane Wright, tournament director for Paintball Sports Promotions.

The public is welcome as spectators to the games at no charge for admission. Vendors—such as Red Bull, Scion, and several leading dealers of paintball equipment and supplies—will have displays in the exhibition area, and concessions will also be available.

The Player Party on Saturday evening is open to the public and will feature music by Grapevine, Seattle, and Too Tall Jones. Tickets for the general public are $10 each.

Wednesday, August 25th
8:00am 5-Man preliminary games begin for all rookie and novice teams
12:00pm Registration for X-Ball teams opens; X-Ball fields available to teams for walking
6:30pm Mandatory captains meeting for X-Ball teams; one representative from each team must be in attendance.

Thursday, August 26th
8:00am 5-Man semifinals begin; X-Ball games begin
12:00pm Registration for 10-Man teams opens
3:00pm Fields available to teams for walking
4:00pm 5-Man teams Awards Ceremony
