HALLOWEEN WEEKEND IN SO CAL
Hollywood Sports Park

On the 31st of October, monsters, goblins, clown, rabbits, and cheerleaders terrified the grounds of Hollywood Sports Park for the annual Halloween Paintball BASH! Hollywood Sports Park has quickly become the key spot for Halloween weekend in California. This year’s theme was Death to Dracula: Vampires vs. Vampire Slayers. The game was opened to all those who dared to enter. The scenario field known as Apocalypse, regularly used to house scenario players, was “vamped” and renamed, “The Apocalypse City of Dracula.” There were demons and obstacles lurking in corners. The fog unfurled from within the tunnel leading to the playing fields. There were cop sirens screaming and little children crying. The Halloween spirit resonated throughout the grounds of Hollywood Sports Park.

Venish, the Hollywood Sports Park Manager of Operations states, “The turnout was much bigger than what we expected. This is great! The more the better!! Hollywood Sports Park is 30-acres, -and we have more than plenty of room for massive games!”

Missions were built in and around the theme. Silver paintballs were administered in to the pods of team leaders. There were two teams; Vampires and Vampire Slayers. The very first early morning mission was Leader against Leader. To eliminate the Lead Vampire, the Lead Slayer needed to splat a blotch of paint against his foe. Only a leader could eliminate a leader. Leaders were not allowed to cross pass a certain point. The troop of Slayers came out strong. They quickly advanced way pass the first half of the field. They cornered the team, and afterwards, it was a matter of snap shooting, member vs. member. Slayers rendered the Vampires weak. The game came to an end when the Lead Slayer splattered paint against the Lead Vampire across the chest.

Missions were run throughout the day. The most exciting mission was the one where only GOGGLE HITS constituted a “dead player.” It was a diabolical idea for a mission. It was conjured by the mad mind of Venish. “Paintball players know that the scariest thing within the game is a goggle hit. It’s frightening, and frightening is what we were looking for [sinister laugh].” This mission was ultimately captured by the hoard of Vampires.

Throughout Hollywood Sports Park, everyone had Halloween thoughts in mind. The girls of the Hollywood Sports Park Pro-Shop came dressed to impress for Halloween. Candy snacks of all sorts were given out. The Pro Shop was not giving out those tiny bite-size candy bars. The Pro Shop was giving out king sized candy bars of all sorts. Then, at around noon, the king size candy supply sadly ran out and the bite-sized bars were used in their place.

Ultimately, Halloween weekend in Southern California at Hollywood Sports Park was the key place for the paintball community to be at. There were gruesome missions, and exciting prizes awarded to the best costume prizewinner as well as the scariest costume prizewinner. Costumed winners were awarded with gear of all sorts, boxes of paint and all access passes to both Hollywood Sports Park and SC Village.

Hollywood Sports Park is currently working on the next themed-game scheduled to take place sometime in and around Christmas time. For more information, visit www.HollywoodSports.com or www.SCVillage.com. You can also dial 562-867-9600.
