NEW SCORING SYSTEM AT MILLENNIUM
Millennium Series

In association with effort to bring Paintball more into the public eye it has been decided to completely change the scoring system. This change will bring paintball scoring into a format more easily understood by the general public.

Games will be scored in the following manner:

3 Match points for a successful flag hang.
2 Match points for a flag in transit(flag carrier alive at the end of the game – in the event of both teams grabbing but not hanging the flag the points will go to the team that first grabbed the flag)
1 Match point for a draw(no flags grabbed after 7 minutes)
0 Match points for a loss

The score sheet for the game will also include the ‘Elimination Difference’ (E/D) which is the total one team’s players minus the other teams live players. The E/D will be used to separate teams with equal Match points. The E/D will range from +7 to -7 and operates in the same way as football (European) goal difference.

Examples:
Team A hangs the flag against Team B with 4 live players remaining.
The scores are as follows:

Team A gets 3 points and +4 E/D (4 live players minus 0 live players
Team B gets 0 points and -4 E/D (0 live players minus 4 live players)
Team C and Team D draw the game with no flags grabbed. Team C has 5 live
players and Team D has 2 live players.

The scores awarded are:
Team C gets 1 point and +3 E/D
Team D gets 1 point and -3 E/D

In the case of a tie score between 2 teams the tie will be broken firstly
by head to head Match points and thereafter, if necessary, the teams’ E/D.

The team with the best result will advance. If the tie between teams remains after such tie breaking determination, the tie shall be broken by the previous rounds’ Match points and thereafter E/D, the team with the greatest score in the previous round advancing. If the tie among teams remains after such tie breaking determination, the tie shall be broken by the next previous round scores, the team with the greatest score in such next previous round advancing.

If the tie still remains the tie will be broken by the seeding that the teams had entering the tournament, the highest seeded team advancing.
