MWXPL HEADS TO SALT LAKE CITY
Mountain West Xtreme Paintball

The MWXPL (Mountain West Xtreme Paintball League) is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Salt Lake City Open 7 man on May 28-29 and the Mountain West Masters 7 man on August 6-7 at the famous Utah State Fair Park which is minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport and Downtown Salt Lake City. Both 7 man events will be official affiliate events to the XPSL giving teams points towards season end XPSL rankings. The MWXPL uses the NPPL Super 7 format and provides competitive training ground for teams currently playing in or looking to play in XPSL, NPPL and other national events.

Last year the Salt Lake City Open was the largest tournament event to ever hit the region with record breaking 5 and 7 man team turnout. With last years season hosting 2 Major and 1 minor event with over 50 participating teams, millions of paintballs shot, $20,000 in prizes given away, and Utah’s first NPPL Super 7 format event with state of the art NPPL regulation SupAirball fields, the MWXPL definitely set the standard for paintball tournaments in the region.

2004 opened the eyes of major MWXPL sponsors like PMI, DYE, Proto, Ricochet, WGP, Bonebrake and the XPSL to world class tournament paintball in the Southwest who will continue to support the events for 2005. The MWXPL also broke new ground with local sponsors and vendors which provided opportunities for local Paintball businesses to provide vending at MWXPL events. Local sponsors included Pegleg Paintball, Paintball Planet, Ballistic Paintball, and Paintball Addicts.

One of the major additions to the MWXPL this year is the purchase of a professional netting system. This system is made from the same supplier that makes the NPPL Super 7 netting and stand system that surround the playing fields and turf and that provide spectating at all NPPL events. Last year we had netting and stands brought in from out of state. This new system allows the MWXPL the security and mobility of being 100% self sufficient and opens our doors to expanding events and venues beyond region borders. “Our goal for 2004 was to set a standard for smaller scale feeder events for the XPSL and NPPL and provide the same quality fields, services, and venue that are found at larger national events, we exceeded our goal” says Craig Munsee, President of the MWXPL.
