Sport Consulting Group Inc. Launches Paintball Into Major Motion Picture
Failure to Launch, a Paramount Picture, Starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker
New York — June 28, 2005 –Paintball took another giant step last week with its inclusion in the motion picture Failure to Launch, starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. In April, John Meindl, President of Sport Consulting Group Inc. was contacted by Paramount Pictures and later joined the production as paintball coordinator and wardrobe consultant. Months of preparation and coordination culminated in a weeks shooting and the participation of two of Hollywood’s hottest stars and many of paintball’s industry giants.
The giant set, on the banks of Lake Ponchartrain in New Orleans, had the feel of an XBall tournament, with two tournament fields built by the PSP with bunkers provided by Sup Air, the XBall showtrailer, and additional wrapped trucks bearing the names and logos of; Pev’s, Paintball Sports Magazine, Dye, Spyder, and a second XBall wrapped truck. Complete with tents and the Draxxus pro shop, which was featured in one scene, the entire set was adorned with industry signage. The clear winners of invaluable product placement were; XBall-the game, XBall paint and jerseys, Draxxus, NXe, V-Force, Kingmann, and Toxic.
Accompanying, the XBall trailer were Dave “Opie” Thomas and Matthew “MB” Bawden, both of whom were vital to the success of this huge project. When filming was completed, the Director, Tom Dey, was extremely pleased with what he captured and the look of the set.
