NPPL WRAP OF BOSTON
NPPL

Wrap up of Boston and the ramp up for San Diego

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions would like to thank every one who helped make the 2006 Boston NPPL Super 7 Event such a massive success!  Parking figures show that 35,000 - 40,000 people attended the event over the 3-day weekend!  This attendance surpassed all expectations, as this was the NPPL Super 7's first event in the New England area.

Following a recap meeting with Gillette Stadium, Pure Promotions CEO Bart Walkerdine said “The stadium were fantastically happy with the entire event.  They were very pleased with the turn out, the people, the way every one behaved, including players, fans, vendors and staff.  They loved the sport of paintball; loved the spectacle of it.  They have asked us to come back and we are gladly accepting”.  Very pleased with this and the media coverage from the entire Boston area including Rhode Island and
New Hampshire news groups; the NPPL, teams and sponsors are definitely looking forward to returning to Gillette Stadium in 2007 and beyond.

With sold out grandstands each day, the trade show was massive and packed all weekend long.  Sponsors collectively agreed that more product was sold on Friday at Gillette Stadium in Boston than Friday at Huntington Beach - making this trade show one of the most successful in the history of the
Super 7.

Compliments are pouring in from teams, parents, sponsors and referees as many adjustments were made to improve the teams' overall experience at the event.  Perhaps the most obvious was changing the refereeing structure from only one Ultimate Official for the entire event, to one Ultimate
Official per field (six total).  This way every call, dispute and decision was made on the field and stayed at the field.

The NPPL also changed the game schedule, which proved to be beneficial to the teams, referees and vendors.  This new schedule has three time brackets of games rather than just two.  Before teams would play their 4 games each day over a course of 5 - 6 hours, while the new structure has teams playing their 4 games each day over a course of 3 hours.  The teams loved having to spend less time waiting for games, and being able to enjoy more of the event and trade show.  Having three time brackets opposed to only two also cut down on the congestion in the Player Paddocks area.  The
referees were given two 40-minute breaks instead of one 1-hour break - giving officials an additional opportunity to rejuvenate; again adding to the overall improvement of the reffing performance.

Realizing that reducing the amount of time between games could cause problems as far as getting teams to their fields in time, the NPPL added an air station at each and every field.  This way teams only needed to report directly to their field to get air and chrono in.  Again, this modification was widely welcomed by the teams and added an extra element of ease to the event.

The NPPL Super 7 is now gearing up for Event #4 – San Diego.  Referred to by many as their favorite Super 7 event, San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium has been a host to the Super 7 for three years now.  Each year every thing sells out at this event as team registration fills up with in hours, the
grandstands are jam-packed and vendors simply run out of product to sell.  The NPPL will be adding additional grandstands to help accommodate the masses, and have offered early event registration to 2006 NPPL Teams and NPPL Feeder Event Teams.  This early registration opens Tuesday, August 1st at www.NPPL.tv under “Team Registration”.  All other teams will have the opportunity to register beginning Monday, August 7th (while space remains).

The true excitement in San Diego however, will lie in the ever so close points race.  With top teams Sacramento XSV and San Diego Dynasty not even making it through to quarter-finals in Boston; the race to the top is closer than ever in the Professional brackets.  Miami Rage have soared to the top of the rankings after their win in Boston, and are now only ONE POINT behind Dynasty for 2nd place, and with only 10 points separating the 4th place team from the 10th place team – this race is still wide open for the taking.  On the other end of the spectrum, the bottom three NPPL Pro Teams will be fighting harder than ever to avoid being relegated to Semi Pro at the end of the season.  Top Semi Pro teams looking solid for a possible promotion to the NPPL Pro League are the A Team, California
Bushwackers and Miami Raiders with Dynasty Dynamics, Impact and BC Infamy nipping at their heels.

With all this excitement in store, more than ever the NPPL and Pure Promotions are looking forward to seeing you at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium September 8 – 10 for Event #4 of the NPPL Super 7 World Series.  Please email Camille@NPPL.tv or call (303) 520 3027 for information on having a booth in the trade show, entering a team in the event, purchasing a grand stand ticket or simply for more information on our league.

The NPPL and Pure Promotions would like to congratulate all 2006 NPPL Super 7 World Series Boston Champions and thank Founding Platinum Sponsors WDP, Spyder and JT USA.
