Philly Americans Take Phoenix With the Luxe

Two-time NXL champions, Philly Americans win the NXL division at the 2009 PSP Phoenix Open with the Luxe.

For Immediate Release – The best paintball players and teams from around the world play against each other in the National X-Ball League at Paintball Sports Promotions tournaments. This year's NXL season kicked off in the clear, sunny skies of Phoenix, Arizona.

After grueling preliminary and elimination rounds, the Philly Americans found themselves facing off against the Los Angeles Ironmen in the finals. A win over the Ironmen gave Philly the trophy for Phoenix. No strangers to victory, the Philly Americans won a pair of NXL annual championships back to back in the league's first two years. The team's history runs back further to include pro victories in the European Millennium Series and NPPL 10-man competitions in the woods in the early 1990s.

Coached by Jason Trosen, Philly's lineup includes super-star players Tim Montressor, Ryan Moorehead, Chad George, Pat Roberts, Sam Monville, Ross O'Rourke, Jason Edwards, and Konstantin Federov. Through the 2008 season Philly gradually converted the entire team to shooting the Luxe Premium Paintball Marker.

“It's great to be coming home with another trophy,” said Tim Montressor, “Most of us have been shooting the Luxe for almost a year now, and it gives us what we need. It shoots fast and accurate, there is absolutely no kick, and it's a snap to clean between games, not that we'd need to, since it never breaks paint.”

Joining Philly on the podium after a win over Russian Legion in the finals round was third placed Dynasty, also shooting the Luxe. Dynasty and the Philly Americans will be defending their NXL rankings at the Mid-Atlantic open April 30th through May 3rd.
