It’s always been the goal of d3o™ to provide high quality protective solutions that allow athletes to concentrate on doing what they do with complete freedom of movement, without having to worry that the necessary protection will hinder instead of help. d3o™ began this drive with the US and Canadian ski team who wore d3o™ in the iconic GS race suits in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Since then the material has been used by innovative brands and athletes from a range of different sports, and after receiving so many enquiries from paintball players about offering the same benefits to them, the clever people at d3o™ have decided to develop a new range of protectors specific to the sport – d3o™ covert. d3o™ covert allows players to wear protection without even noticing it’s there, so you can focus on doing what you need to do to win the game.

So how does d3oâ„¢ work? d3oâ„¢ achieves its qualities as a result of the intelligent molecules it is composed off. At slow speeds the molecules inside d3oâ„¢ move freely making it soft and flexible, whereas at high speeds, like in an impact, the molecules lock together, spreading and absorbing the impact to protect the wearer.

What this means for the athlete/rider/worker is that the material is able to drape around the body much more easily than other protectors, with its flat composition meaning components follow the line of your body when straight, but move with you when you bend.

Among the d3oâ„¢ covert range are components for the elbows and knees allowing soft shell knee and elbow pads. d3oâ„¢ covert protectors are only 7mm at their thickest point in the centre, and taper at the edges to seamlessly integrate into the garment. d3oâ„¢ has also been used to provide soft head protection in beanies by Quiksilver, and UK based beanie brand, Ignite. These beanies were designed for snowboarders who do not want to wear a helmet but still wanted some level of protection, and d3oâ„¢ could be utilized in a similar way for paintball. d3oâ„¢ beanies will never replace a helmet but offer much more protection than nothing at all.

To win the game you need your mind as well as your body, so any protection you wear has to do its job without you noticing it’s there. d3o™ covert protection does exactly this.
