NCPA COLLEGE STANDINGS

Competition between top schools intensifies as the Collegiate Championships draw near!

With April's Collegiate Paintball Championships right around the corner, teams in every conference are battling for top slots. In the NCPA Northeast Conference (Class A), the University of Connecticut Huskies are undefeated, in command and well ahead of their nearest competition, the Drexel Dragons. The Huskies have been so impressive that their 67 points scored, combined with only 14 points given up gives them an amazing average margin of victory of 5.3 points, by far the best in any conference. Unlike the Northeast, the Midwest Conference is a real fight for the top slot with the Purdue University Boilermakers clinging to a lead in the small, hotly contested division, with the Redbirds of Illinois State just behind. In the new Mid-Atlantic Conference, Ohio University stands tall with the University of Tennessee behind. As the Collegiate Championships approach and college paintball's best teams hit the home stretch, can anyone touch the undefeated Huskies?

In Class AA five-man it's the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers on top at the moment, with the Northeastern University Huskies, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers hanging tough. In fact, to this point in the season the top twelve teams are all within 80 rankings points of each other, and all have had podium finishes at least once this season.

Complete 2009 season rankings are available at www.NCPAPaintball.com. Don't forget, the College and High School Paintball National Championships are being held April 17-19 at Central Florida Paintball in Lakeland, FL.

Formed in the summer of 2000 and promoting its first season of collegiate paintball competition in 2001, the NCPA, founded by league President Chris Raehl, has worked tirelessly to promote the growth of paintball by creating an infrastructure for college paintball enthusiasts to compete against one-another in a professional setting. The NCPA has taken great strides towards the legitimization of the sport of paintball in addition to simply sanctioning and producing college paintball tournaments by bringing paintball to television via the Collegiate Paintball National Championship presented by JT and broadcast regularly on Fox College Sports. More recently, the NCPA has extended its reach to high school paintball in an effort to further legitimize and grow the overall game and sport of paintball. Colleges and universities currently competing in NCPA events include Purdue University, the University of Illinois, the United States Military Academy, Virginia Tech, Auburn and the University of West Virginia. For more information on the NCPA, including national rankings, a complete television broadcast schedule, league history and much more, visit www.NCPAPaintball.com.
