The Rocky Mountain Championship Series 1998
Report courtesy - Team
Fury
The 1998 RMCS 5-Man Championships were held on October 3rd and 4th at Rocky Mountain Paintball in Colorado Springs, home of the only hyperball field in the Rocky Mountain region. This was the first 2 day event ever pu on by the RMCS since it started 3 years ago and it was a huge success! There were 14 teams from 4 different states that attended this years event. This was the final tournament of the year in a 5 event series hosted and officiated by NPPL Team Fury.
The goal behind the RMCS series is to give teams a lot of paintball and a lot of prizes for a small entry fee and that's just what they accomplished with all this years events. The entry fee to the Championships as well as all the other RMCS events this year was only $275 wich included air. This years championships proved to be even bigger and better by giving away $15,000 in prizes. All teams in attendance received prizes with first place amateur receiving over $3000 in prizes including Automags and 1st place novice receiving over $2000 in prizes including Semi-Auto Diamond GT's from Olympic Paintball.
After two days and 18 games later the final standings came down to a small difference in points in both the amateur and novive divisions. The intense battle for 1st in the amateur division was between the Stalkers from Iowa and Wrecking Crew from Colorado. They played best 2 our of 3 in the finals. The Stalkers took the 1st game and Wrecking crew maxed the 2nd game which made a 3rd game necessary to decide first place. It came down to the final minutes with both teams have 3 players left on the field. The Stalkers went on one final push and took out the remaining players to get the max. In the novice division only 17 points separated 1st and 2nd place with the Jolly Rogers edging out Twisted Metal.
The RMCS also crowned the series champions at this event. The overall amateur division winner went to Force and novice division champions were the Sharp Shooters. Congratulations on a great year!
The RMCS would not be possible without the great support they receive throughout the year from all the following sponsors: Scott USA, Diablo, Taso/Powerball, Pursuit Products, BOA Barrels, Viewloader, Air America, Redz Gear, Olympic Paintball, Airgun Designs, Tippmann, AKA Products, National Paintball Supply, Paintball Mania, Warped Sportz, Paintball Sports Magazine, PCRI, WARPIG.COM, and last but not least the entire crew at Rocky Mountain Paintball for all their support!
