CHEATER CHIP BANNED AT NPPL
NPPL

The NPPL continues to take a hard stance on teams and players using electronic markers that are programmed to cheat. Markers that ramp by adding shots or ramp by raising velocities over 300 feet per second are prohibited at NPPL tournaments. In 2004, the NPPL has taken steps to stop players from using illegal markers. The task is not easy when manufacturing companies are producing aftermarket chips containing programs which have secret codes designed to cheat and avoid detection. Due to information recently brought to the attention of the NPPL and members of the NPPL Rules Committee, the NPPL will prohibit the use of the following manufacture’s products at NPPL tournaments.

Advantage PB LLC (Speedy chips)

Markers that contain any chips or boards manufactured by the above mentioned company will be deemed to be “illegal markers”. The team of any player found using an illegal marker will be disqualified from the tournament. The NPPL supports safe play and abides by all American Standards and Testing Material (ASTM) paintball standards. In addition, paintball insurance companies do not insure Paintball events or fields that permit the use of fully automatic markers or markers that shoot in multiple burst modes. In an effort to stop players and teams from using illegal markers, referees will be randomly checking players markers throughout the NPPL sanctioned Super 7 Series tournament in San Diego. Teams competing in this tournament must send a representative to the Captains Meeting for further announcements on enforcement of the ban on cheater chips and on other NPPL Rules. The Captains meeting will be held Thursday November 11th at 6 pm.

The National Professional Paintball League Inc. is a player run organization that sanctions and governs paintball tournaments and play. The NPPL sanctions five events in the U.S. and four events in Europe. Paintball teams compete in four divisions Professional, Division I, Division II and Division III. Based on the results of the competitions within each division, paintball teams are awarded points which are used to establish divisional champions. The NPPL is committed to setting rules, standards and guidelines for safe, competitive and fair paintball competitions worldwide. For more information please visit www.nppl.tv
