BIG MERGER IN LITTLE DENMARK
Ugly Ducklings and Berserks

It is with great pride we herewith announce, that two of the oldest team names in European paintball merge into one team.

Ugly Ducklings and the Berserks, both based in Denmark have merged into one team, under the team name Ugly Ducklings.

The team is under joint ownership of Frank Fonnes and Nick Brockdorff and has a roster of 22 Scandinavian players, including famous names like the Behnsen brothers, Christian Courtois and Soeren Persson, who are all coming out of retirement for the team.

In 2007, the Ugly Ducklings will compete in the Millennium Series Semi-Pro League, as well as in the highest division of Scandinavias largest event series 3 Kronor Cup.

On the merger, the two future compatriots has the following to say:

Frank Fonnes:
“With 2006 seeing the Ugly Ducklings get the poorest result in the history of the team, we realised drastic changes had to be made, some people had to leave and new ones had to join.

Seen in that perspective, I have chosen to merge the Ugly Ducklings with the Berserks, which strengthens the joint squad significantly, and is perfect match for what we want to build for the future.

I, and the rest of the original Ugly Ducklings, look forward to our new collaboration, both with the young and talented players the Berserks bring to the team, and to working closely with Nick again.

Personally, I am confident we will be able to create a very powerful team together.”

Nick Brockdorff:
“I have a feeling of having “come home” with this merger. The very first paintball I ever shot at another person, on a commercial outing back in 1989, hit Frank squarely in the chest, and in the next game he shot me in the head. That was the start of the oldest friendship I have in paintball, and our paths in paintball have been intertwined ever since then. I was on the very first roster of the Ugly Ducklings when Frank founded the team, and played with the team for many years, so it is with great pride I can again wear the infamous Ugly Duckling on my chest.

We have a team full of young, ambitious and talented players, as well as seasoned Pros, that are all going to work very hard in years to come, to restore the Ugly Ducklings to former glory.”
