5K IN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PLAYERS NCPA and JT SportsNCPA and JT Sports Announce the Paintball in the Community Program
The National Collegiate Paintball Association will award $5,000 in scholarships as part of the JT Sports ‘Paintball in the Community’ Scholarship Program. The program seeks to create educational opportunities for students who have a passion for paintball and have elevated the sport within the community. Scholarship applications may be downloaded from the NCPA or JT Sports websites, and must be submitted by April 30, 2007.
In addition to having strong academic, extra curricular, and community service achievements, applicants must complete an essay which describes how their activities have positively impacted paintball’s reputation within their communities, and how they will continue to create community enthusiasm for the sport while completing their college education. Examples might include promoting charity paintball events, programs that encourage people to try paintball, paintball awareness and safety campaigns, or community service projects attributed to the paintball community.
“Over 10 million people played paintball last year,” said NCPA President Chris Raehl. “Each of these people is a representative of our sport. This JT Sports Scholarship Program will reward those students who best exemplify the achievements, character and service shared by paintball players in all walks of life, and encourage more players to make an impact on their community while promoting awareness of the sport.”
“JT Sports is thrilled to participate with the NCPA in the Paintball in the Community Scholarship Program,” said David Jones, Vice President of Marketing for JT Sports. “We know there are great stories out there about the positive influence of paintball and we look forward to reading about them.”
Up to five applicants may be selected for a scholarship, and any student who entered or will enter college in the 2006-2007 or 2007-2008 school years is eligible. More information about the JT Sports ‘Paintball in the Community’ Scholarship Program may be found at the NCPA’s website, www.ncpapaintball.com/scholarship or at www.jtsports.com.
