MSPA GETS UNDERWAY WITH 2007 SEASON
MSPA

On March 18, the first event was held at Ntense Paintball, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We began the season with twenty-two teams and everyone was excited to get the first tournament underway. Bowling Green is one of the furthest for most teams in the south. Although, a low attendance the moral and spirits of paintball was exciting for all. With a new Ultimate Referee to this series, Mark Davis, the MSPA is in for a new exciting season. Mark is a veteran in paintball. He has been in paintball for twenty-five years. He has refereed and played in PSP, NPPL, NXL, NAAPSA, CPSA and the MSPA. He is known for his knowledge of paintball and is a respected paintball player. We are very fortunate to have him aboard with MSPA. He has already shown consistency in his decisions for calls and nothing negative about his performance. In fact, all we have received from players about Mark Davis, is that MSPA is making a big change for the series to have him as the ultimate referee. It will be a big help for improvement for referees in the MSPA season.

The second tournament for the season was held at Wildfire Paintball, in Madison, Georgia on April 15th. Although, we had the same amount in attendance with Bowling Green, the teams were different. More from the South were in attendance and we hope to see the attendance grow as we head for Knoxville on May 20th. We had one of the best referees on board at Wildfire, due to the fact that Eddy Bridges, the owner of Wildfire, provided his best guns as referees. The more experienced players make the best referees. That was proven at Wildfire. In the MSPA series, the member teams are the referees. We had member teams, X-hail and the home team of Wildfire All Stars referee, at Madison. Member teams with the help of the experienced players provided by Wildfire Paintball and the Ultimate, the games began and ended with the accuracy and a timely manner.

The MSPA has new officers for the 2007 season. Introducing, Travis Boyd as the President; Herman Shaffer is the Vice President with help from a Co-Vice President, Barry Ditzler. Secretary and Treasurer is Dee Craig and Promotional Representative is Rhonda Floyd. The new position for this year is the Ultimate Referee, Mark Davis. Together these officers, with Bob Sandifer, from TAG are giving MSPA a new look. Bob Sandifer is the Webmaster for the new MSPA site. Bob Sandifer is extending not only his services as a web host and Webmaster but his time and expertise in paintball to help MSPA make a turn around and thrive as a series. Among other changes, we have implemented the new season with tournament team entries on-line. The Knoxville event will be the first tournament to see the new changes with this new entry procedure. Thanks to Silverbacks, as of today, the first team, to have taken the first step to register for Knoxville with this new system.

Another big change that warrants mentioning is CA$H Prizes. We have implemented CA$H prizes for the Open Division. We are attempting to entice the experienced player to take the challenge and play with your own friends whom have already made the move into the Open Division. Players wanted CA$H Prizes, and now you have it, take advantage and collect it! We need more players to step it up and compete.

By the time this article runs, we hope that the attendance would have improved, so the next tournament after Knoxville, is at Paintball on the Plateau in Crossville, TN on June the 10th. Birmingham has always had a good attendance and we look forward to bringing MSPA to Paintball Quest on July 15th.

We are so excited to have three new fields added to the MSPA schedule. Kamikaze Paintball is a new field and has one of the best setups for fields, which every player will be so excited to see it and play. Kamikaze is located at Ellijay, Georgia. Tournament date for Ellijay is August 19th. Next is one of the oldest and best fields around in paintball, Ultimate Paintball, in Canton Georgia. Ted Wolfson is the owner and has made the decision to help MSPA thrive. Ultimate Paintball has announced that they will be adding more prizes to their September 16th event. Along with trophies and CA$H prizes they will be offering items from their 2007 sponsors, which includes companies such as JT, Smart Parts and Predator Electronics.

Words from Bob Sandifer from TAG, are that this event is already to one of the largest in MSPA history and with the addition of a larger prize package, we will expect even more competition from around the south.
To be eligible for the prizes a team must have participated in at least 3 events this season prior to Ultimate Paintball in Canton, Georgia. Keep yourselves up to date for more information by logging onto the new website for MSPA.

Last but not least is N2 Paintball to be held on November the 11th. Originally set for October, and with World Cup in the mist, she felt that setting it back to November would be beneficial for both her Paintball field and MSPA. N2 is located in Cullman, Alabama. Rhonda Floyd is the owner and with the help from the Co-Vice President, Barry Ditzler at her side we will see some excitement at N2. She has been around a little while and has many teams particating in the MSPA series. She had five teams in the first event. She is also dedicated to help MSPA in this new rebuilding season. We look forward to bringing MSPA to her fields.

In addiction to adding new fields is a new air Vendor. We have contracted with Ringworm Air, Dewayne Craig, for 2007. We have received positive feedback about the consistency of air being provided at 4500 psi throughout the day. We look forward to having Ringworm Air being a part of the new season.

Look for more information and stories about the MSPA to come with every tournament.

MSPA is in the time of a rebuilding season and we hope that all players may come and give us a try and see how you can have fun with other teams in the south. The rest of the season schedule is on the new website address at www.mspapaintball.com

MSPA is here to stay and thrive for years to come. Look for new and exciting improvements to come with MSPA.

Thanks to all the MSPA teams for your membership and attendance and Officers for your hard work.

Sincerely,
Dee Craig
MSPA
Sec/Treasurer
