SPPL TO HEAD TO NEW YORK IN JULY SPPL
The SPPL Scenario Tournament Series Comes to New York!
Cousins Paintball in Plattekill to host New York Qualifier Event.
The SPPL has selected one of the world’s most historic paintball fields as the site of the 2008 New York Qualifier Event. The New York Qualifier will be held July 26 – 27, 2008 at Cousins Paintball in Plattekill, New York.
Formerly Survival NY, Cousins Paintball in Plattekill is one of the longest-running paintball fields in the country. It was the site of the first major open class, big prize money tournament, called the Air Pistol Open, in 1987, and in 1990, hosted the first World Cup. More than $80,000 in cash prizes were awarded at that 15-man woodsball competition. Today’s 10-man SPPL teams can look forward to giant prize packages, as well, including a Sportsmanship Award equal to the first place winnings.
Cousins Plattekill is hailed as the best woodsball environment in New York, with 300 acres of rolling hills, rock walls, ridges/valleys and streams. Conveniently-located near the highway and many major hotel chains, and less than 2 miles away from campgrounds, the field offers players all the amenities they desire.
“Legendary teams like the Master Blasters, the Ironmen, and Ground Zero all played 10-man tournaments here back in paintball’s early days,” says field manager Chris Masi. “It’s great to be going back to those roots with a major competition. Cousins Paintball is honored to host a woodsball tournament here again.”
SPPL President Jayson Nielson is equally excited. “Players have been waiting for an SPPL Qualifier in this region for a long time. Cousins Paintball is known across the country for its first-class customer service and commitment to the sport of paintball. The SPPL looks forward to making tournament history at this world-famous field!”
* Please note: The NY Qualifier replaces the PA Qualifier, which was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict.
