Drop Zone Paintball Park to Host SPPL Kansas Qualifier in August

The SPPL (Scenario Paintball Players’ League) has selected Drop Zone Paintball Park, the oldest and largest paintball field in Kansas, to host its Kansas Qualifier, August 9 – 10, 2008.

Serving paintballers for nearly 20 years, Drop Zone Paintball, www.dropzonepaintball.com, is located just 35 minutes from Kansas City, Topeka, and Lawrence. The 89-acre facility has onsite camping and is located close to area hotels and restaurants. Three separate woodsball fields cater to recreational and scenario players every weekend. In anticipation of the SPPL Major Qualifier, the fantastic wooded terrain has been configured for the exciting three-flag tournament format.

‘The SPPL and Drop Zone Paintball share the same goals,” says Drop Zone General Manager Galen Adams. “We want to offer players a fun, yet competitive, alternative to the current tournament scene. The SPPL’s scenario-style play, at a higher level of competitive than you might get in a normal game, appeals to the players. We’re excited to host the Kansas Qualifier here at Drop Zone.”

The Kansas Qualifier is one of six new locations added to the SPPL schedule in 2008, and SPPL President Jayson Nielson searched carefully to find the perfect park to debut the event. “Drop Zone Paintball offers plenty of space, onsite camping and barbecue grills, superior terrain and, most importantly, a commitment to serving the woodsball community,” he says.

Drop Zone Paintball is home to renowned scenario team Ghost Recon, who will be competing in the 2008 Kansas Qualifier. Band of Brothers, out of Colorado, has also committed to the event. It’s not too late to get in on the Kansas action and register your team to compete in one of three divisions, earn points toward your national rankings, and secure your spot in the SPPL Grand Finals Championship this October. www.playsppl.com
