CAPITAL OFFENSE WINS MVP AT ION 08
Capital Offense

For the second year in a row, Team Capital Offense, walked away with another Most Valuable Player award at Skirmish’s ION 08. At ION 07, Team Captain, David C. Thompson won MVP at the world’s largest game (over 4000 people). This year, that honor was bestowed to Kent “XMAN” Jones of Team Capital Offense and Team Boxer. XMAN, along with Boxer Captain, Wendell “Runaway” Mac and Dave “Seoulbro” Kwon, served as the Allied Forces’ Tactical Operations Center (TOC); effectively running all radio communications between the 10 companies of approx 150 players. Their duty was difficult as it entailed the organization and shifting of 1500 players around the field over a 24 hour timeframe. While the rest of Capital Offense was outside having fun shooting people, Xman, Runaway and Seoulbro were inside the command tent doing the gritty work, which they always excel at.

The Allied General, Phil Whalen, had this to say in his awards ceremony remarks: “He [Kent] and his crew were incredibly professional and absolutely essential to keeping things running. A true MVP.” And as for the rest of Capital Offense, the General added: “These guys own the night, and they were stomping Germans all day as well. Thanks for coming up again, guys.”

This award marks the continuation of a two year winning streak of awards – Capital Offense has won at least one major award at every event the Team has attended over the last two years. Team Captain David C. Thompson had this to say: “When you come to a game like ION where there are thousands of players making plays, it is great when you can still walk away with an award…that means something truly spectacular happened that you were a part of. In this case, Kent, Wendell, and Dave Kwon truly deserved the recognition they received…they held together 1500 players against formidable odds.”

Capital Offense had a great time hanging out with its sponsors and meeting new players. The Team is taking a well deserved vacation in August to work on several sponsor initiatives, including a scenario training weekend. In September, the Team heads to Lumpy’s Paintball in Smithfield, Ohio for Blackcat Paintball’s 48 HOUR paintball event, Doomsday Warriors!! Check out www.blackcatpaintball.com for more details on the game. Capital Offense hopes to see you there!!
