Matt Bowen, Captain of Instagators Passes Away
September 20, 2002

I'm afraid I received some unfortunate news this afternoon. Matt Bowen, captain of the Instagators passed away today. It appears he suffered a heart attack at work. The news comes as quite a shock for his family and his friends, as Matt had no history of heart trouble.
I'm afraid I received some unfortunate news this afternoon. Matt Bowen, captain of the Instagators passed away today. It appears he suffered a heart attack at work. The news comes as quite a shock for his family and his friends, as Matt had no history of heart trouble.

Those who have frequented Gator Joe's have likely run across him working the counter. I've included a picture of him, taken yesterday, at the bottom of this post. He and his son, John (Egg) have participated in the ICC for the last couple of years. Matt participated in yesterday's event where his team placed fourth.

It goes without saying that John is taking this pretty hard. I ask that everyone keep him, and the rest of the family in your thoughts and prayers. John if you read this, please know that you have about 500 brothers and sisters in the paintball community who are willing to help you any way they can.

I think it'd be great if we could get the bulk of the paintball community to show up at the viewing between 6 and 7. I know that Matt's friends, family, and teammates will appreciate your support.

If you want to donate to the bunker fund, you can send a check to:
Indiana Captains Council
Matt Bowen Memorial
10780 Sweet Creek Trail
Fishers, IN 46038

Mark on the memo of your check that it goes toward the Matt Bowen Memorial.
