AKALMP to Sponsor Sportsmanship Award at Zap International Amateur Open

PITTSBURGH, PA. - AKALMP a  manufacturer of paintball guns and
parts, will sponsor  the prestigious Sportsmanship Award at the 10th annual Zap International Amateur Open, August 2-6, in Pittsburgh.  With more than $125,000 in prizes, this major paintball tournament draws more than 1,300 competitors from around the world and features a mammoth trade show.

Aaron Alexander, owner of AKALMP, Inc., began playing paintball in 1987.  Initially using homemade paintball guns, the avid paintball player modified his guns to achieve better performance and also worked on other people’s guns.  After graduating from Purdue University, where he organized and participated in the Purdue Paintball Club, Alexander continued to develop products to
improve gun performance.  By the time AKALMP was incorporated in 1998, the company produced approximately 20 products for the paintball market. The Excalibur*, a low-pressure, electro-pneumatic gun with a true closed bolt design, is one of their newest products.

As sponsors of the Sportsmanship Award, AKALMP believes paintball is a sport for people  of all ages that provides many opportunities for personal
growth in the sport.   "Winning makes us all feel great, but losing with grace and dignity makes us better individuals.  That is why we, as AKALMP, feel so strongly that Sportsmanship is the most important part of paintball," Alexander  said. Prizes and trophies will be presented to the teams that best exemplify the
spirit of the event.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, The ZAP International Amateur Open is expecting unprecedented crowds. With the addition of Super air fields, 10 more acres of parking, and the Goodwill Exhibition  Games showcasing the latest technology, plans are well underway to make this event another blockbuster. Featuring rookie, novice and amateur in the 5-player, 3-player and Young Guns event, 10-player amateur division plus lots of parties and
the largest trade show in the world, The ZAP IAO is a spectacle not to be missed.
