American Paintball League

APL Announces new Novice Division and Scenario Games
PRESS RELEASE

American Paintball League President, Bob McGuire, announced a greatly expanded venue for all 2001 APL events.  Entering their 10th year of professionally run amateur paintball tournaments, the APL has added a new 3-man NOVICE division, with totally separate prizes.  The APL five-man AMATEUR tournaments have also been upgraded, with CASH PRIZES! In addition to normal prizes, $1000 will be awarded to first place, and $500 will go to second place teams at every 2001 APL AMATEUR tournament.

In addition to the tournament enhancements, the APL will be hosting SCENARIO GAMES at every event.  Well known scenario player-producer Spiro Mamaligas (founder of team Joint Fury) has been hired as the APL Scenario Game Director.  Spiro’s elaborate scenarios are designed to progressively develop through the APL event series.  Semi-autos and many other prizes will be awarded to Scenario game participants.

ZAP paintballs will be featured for the tenth consecutive year at all APL events.  Eight events have been scheduled for 2001, and every event promises to be a weekend paintball extravaganza!  Persons or teams can compete in the tournaments, the scenario games, or both!  And there will be much more.  The NPS T2000 semi tractor-trailer showcase will be set up, with all the latest and greatest paintball goodies; and side events will go on all weekend. Certified airsmiths will be on location for marker-tweaking and upgrades, and PTI paintball player safety classes will also be given.  After much consideration, the APL has decided that the ultimate referee will be wearing a helmet-cam, and the action will be beamed to a large-screen TV in the spectator area… LIVE!

As an added splash, tournament sponsor 32 Degrees will be giving away free jerseys to novice and amateur teams who compete in at least two APL tournaments (call APL for details).  Free team photos will also be awarded to every tournament player at each event.

The Amateur and Novice tournaments will tee off concurrently at 8:00 AM on Saturday, and the tournament awards ceremony will be at 4:00 PM.  The Scenario registration will open at 10:00 AM Saturday, and the “all night” scenarios will kick off at 5:00 PM Saturday.  The Scenario games will conclude at 1:00 PM Sunday.

American Paintball League events have a history of smooth operation and guaranteed prizes. Every facet of each event is carefully choreographed, successfully combining the fast-paced schedule with the needs of the players.  This kind of organization is unusual in paintball, and is appreciated by the players. Use of Paintball Training Institute certified referees, further enhances
the quality of play.  To find out more about the APL experience, check out

Free color posters are also available from the APL:
