SM1 Velocity
Comparison Data
April 2004

WARPIG Ballistic Labs Test Results

Test Subject: Sanchez Machine SM-1 Barrel - comparing four different diameter inserts for their effect on velocity.

Paintgun and Air System: CCM J2, Racegun conversion, Revolution loader, Crossfire 800 psi output 4500 psi air system, CCM Vertical regulator.

Variable: Barrel insert diameter as labled.  As a base for comparison, the velocities from a one piece CCM barrel were also recorded.  Velocity was not adjusted between inserts, in order to overall velocity increase or decrease as affected by barrel fit.

Chronograph strings:  Each string represents two groups of 10 shots fired at 1 second intervals under microprocessor control - paintgun secured on test stand.

Temp: 79 F
Humidity: 64%
Date 9-Apr-04
Paint: DraXxus Hellfire
Location: Hurricane Paintball

Understanding the Summary Data

High: This represents the highest velocity in the recorded string of shots.
Low: This represents the lowest velocity in the recorded string of shots.
E.S.: Extreme Spread - this is the difference in velocity between the highest velocity shot and the lowest velocity shot.
Ave: Average - this is the average velocity of the string of shots.  This is the number to look at to compare whether velocity is increased overall, or decreased overall by a change in a variable.
S.D.: Standard Deviation - S.D. Is a mathematicall way of expressing how close most of the shots are to the average.  The lower the Standard Deviation is, the more consistent the velocity is.
95%: This is an easier to understand way of expressing consistency.  Statistically, there is a 95% chance than a given shot will vary this amount in velocity.
