: Whew! Just got back from Madison, hauling the entire Kohnen clan to the Wisconsin capital to try to head off the DNR's "no paintball" rule. With much input from the paintball community, the rule was dropped back in the DNR's lap to be reworded, or removed, pending consultation and education with the paintball community.
: My thanks go to those who took the time and effort to show up for this. Among those who came were Jessica Sparks, Dan Reeves, representatives from Nelson Paintballs, Rob "Tyger" Rubin, Marc Gottfried of Total Grief, Chris Raehl of the NCPA, field owners and players from Wisconsin, and others. Great turnout! Natch, I appologize in advance if I left anyone out. It's been a really long day.
: What's even better is that the DNR here did ZERO homework on this issue. The sole speaker on behalf of the DNR had no answers to questions, no numbers to show, and stated that there had been no complaints of paintball being played on state lands. I believe the poor guy lost any and all credibility within the first three minutes of being in front of the Representative Committee. Every paintball speaker had great comments, brought up valid points, had answers to questions asked, and even performed circus tricks(ie one of us ate a paintball to prove that they are non-toxic! ...and it wasn't me).
: This issue may very well come up again, and if it does, you can bet we will all be back to challange the DNR again. It seemed the committee was in favor of leaving paintball alone, as has been done for 20 years. I think we're going to be just fine on this one.
