: First of all, a LAW should be regulated and someone, somewhere said that 220fps was OK. I have no problem with that and recommend it to everyone. 250fps is getting way over the limit of safe play.

I WOULD TOTALLY AGREE. WITH ALL THESE HOME MADE WEAPONS, THE ONLY WAY TO CONTROL THE MUZZLE ENERGY OF THE ROUND IS BY CHRONOing THE ROUND TO BE UNDER A CERTAIN LIMIT JUST LIKE PAINTBALLS.

BARREL LENGTHS, RESEVIOR SIZE, VALVE MODIFICATIONS AND BRAND, ALL PRODUCE DIFFERENT MUZZLE VELOCITIES AT SAY 100 PSI.

INTERESTINGLY THE D-DAY AND D-DAY SERIES RULES FOR RPG LIMITS THE OPERATING PRESSURE AND NOT THE VELOCITY. WHEN I CHECKED MY RPG IN AT D-DAY AND A D-DAY SERIES GAME, THEY DID NOT CHECK MY PRESSURE. THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN THE POP OFF VALVE AND GUAGE BEING PRESENT BUT DIDN'T ASK ME TO GAS IT UP TO CHECK FOR RULE COMPLIANCE.

TO BE FAIR, IT DID TELL THEM IT RAN AT 130 PSI AND HAD CHRONOED MY NERF ROUNDS WHICH ALL RAN UNDER 220 FPS. (I HAVE A SHORT BARREL) THEY KNOW ME, SO I GUESS THEY JUST COULD HAVE TAKEN MY WORD FOR IT. BUT I DIDN'T SEE THEM MAKING ANYONE ELSE GAS UP THEIRS TO CHECK THE OPERATING PRESSURE EITHER.

: Second, the nerf just doesn't pan out to be safe at the same velocities as paintballs. And to shoot one at the same velocity is dangerous.

BUT THE NERF ROCKETS SLOW DOWN A LOT FASTER THAN PAINT SABOTS AND INDIVIDUAL PAINT ROUNDS. I KNOW IT WASN'T DOING 250 FPS WHEN IT HIT ME FROM ABOUT 15 YARDS AWAY.

: I hope you will bring these points to your field operator and effect some changes.

I TOOK YOUR ADVICE AND WROTE THE D DAY SERIES
PROMOTER, BILL BAILEY. EVERYONE WITH A CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH PAINTBALL SPECIAL WEAPONS SHOULD GET THE WORD OUT TO THE PROMOTERS AND FORUMS.

Otherwise, someone, sometime is going to get really hurt and that person, the field owner, you and all the rest of us are going to pay the price for allowing unsafe actions to occur on the paintball field.

AND THE KNEE JERK REACTION BY THE INSURANCE GUY IS TO BAN EVERYTHING.

: Let's keep it safe out there!

: BTW. Larry Cossio is out of the Paintball Insurance business for now. Non compete clause when he left his insurance company. Or at least, so I am told.

TRUE, HE RESPONDED TO AN E-MAIL I SENT HIM. HE WAS PENDING A COURT HEARING WHETHER OR NOT THE NON-COMPETE APPLIED. EITHER WAY, HE WILL CONTINUE TO BE IN THE PAINTBALL BUSINESS. SOONER OR LATER.

: JT's full head mask is cool. Props to them for coming up with this improvement. Really great for the newby and the front guys who get bunkered.

: With the two story castles, it is not hard to get a shot under the mask. And if it hits the bill, there is added leverage to flip it off.

A GOOD REASON TO WEAR A CHIN STRAP OR TAKE OFF THE BILL. IF YOU TAKE A HEADER AND THE BILL HITS THE GROUND WHILE YOU ARE STILL SLIDING FORWARD, THE MASK ROLLS RIGHT OFF YOUR HEAD AND YOU ARE LYING ON TOP OF IT SCREAMING "MASK OFF!". FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE.

We caught one player off guard this way and busted her lip all to H%&* because the ball went under her mask. Not pretty. Really made us feel bad. And of course, there was several minutes of "hot gun", "cheater", etc. before everyone cooled down enough to realize what had happened. The marker was chronoed at under 250fps and shot from about 50'.

BE A GOOD PAINTBALL CONSUMER AND DEMAND TO BYOP WHILE OFFERING TO PAY EXTRA FOR THE PRIVILAGE.

IT WOULD BE FAIR THAT BYOP REQUIRES PRE REGISTRATION. HELPS THE PROMOTER WITH HIS PAINT ORDER AND ENCOURAGES BOTH ATTENDANCE AND PRE REGISTRATION. GOOD FOR BUSINESS AND A WIN WIN SITUATION.

: I love the idea of pay the field operator his due profit and bring your own paint. Sometimes my paint is just better than his. I just don't know how he can police those that use the field paint and those that haven't paid to use their own paint. But, in a perfect world, that would not be a problem.

EASY TO POLICE. THE REGISTRATION ARMBANDS ARE COLOR CODED. A DIFFERENT COLORED ARMBAND SHOWS THE FIELD REF THAT THEY HAVE PAID FOR THE PRIVLAGE. OR EASIER TO SEE, A COLORED ZIP TIE AROUND THE HOPPER TO CERTIFY THEY HAVE PAID FOR THE PRIVILAGE.
