Of course the intent is to win, and to play more than to sit around and do nothing but talk, eat, and drink.. The point I am making, is there is a different style to the way we (rec/scenario) players play, as compared to speedball/tournament players.. Yes the overall objective is to win, and the competetion is 50% of the adrenalline rush. But the POINT here is, the forum is not named incorrectly because the scenario/big gamers are considered the "recreational" players because our whole style is different than that of the tournament "speedball" players, of which there is allready a forum for them.. I think the name of this forum draws the correct people and discusses fitting subjects, usually.. If someone wants to talk about getting together on a weekend and going to play capture the flag on a little field with man made bunkers (which is an example of what the orignator of this thread thought this forum should be discussing, or at least divided so that that type of thing could be discussed) then that person should venture over to tournament talk, not rec talk.. Two different forums, two different crowds..

: This is not directed specifically at Roadkill but pretty much the whole thought process that seems to think that competition is a bad word and can't be fun? Why should scenarios not be considered competition? Do you play checkers to lose? chess? a friendly game of cards? Maybe some people don't seem to realize it but the scenarios and big games we play in have points. Points for completing missions, points for capturing objectives, points for out role playing the other side and players with a different color armband that you take out ie: beat in an engagement. Some may choose to sit around and rest at events because they just choose to or maybe because they physically have to, that's their business. But they are on a team and a when there's a team everyone's supposed to be doing their part or at the best they can. All the socialists out there should love that one. If I want to drink and eat food I can do that anywhere, I'll call up some friends, save the entry fee, paint fee, air fee, travel fee to a game and chill out anywhere. We go to these things called paintball games to play paintball and correct me if I'm wrong but that inherently means competition. I don't spend my time at these games telling fantastic war stories, I try and create them on the field. There's always those that can't deal with competition and have constant pissing matches. Most constantly friend and just can't handle the whole situation like a well adjusted adult. Usually they talk a lot because they are lacking on the field and need to.

: I'm not thrilled with the lack of ethics that many in tournet ball seem to possess but what is wrong with trying to excel, be the best or at least do the best that you can? There are always those that try and take the short cut and usually it's because they can't win without it or just aren't that good.

: Maybe the person that started this thread wasn't far off, though I agree with Rick that this forum should not be divided. Maybe there is a difference between rec and scenario/big game ball. But even walk on rec ball has a winner and a loser of the short games. Or should it be worded as someone who didn't do as well as the other... they might not feel as bad then and it will reduce the permanent scars. When the points are removed from scenarios/ big games then some of the competition will be gone and we will have just one big rec game. That will be a sad day.
