: What size valve are you using ? The extinguiser I used now has a 1 inch pipe nipple braized into it . The 6 inch sphere you mentioned would have a volume of 85cu . I have seen small oxygen tanks used in emergency packs that looked to be about 5 to 6 inches but there you run into aluminum again.

I'm using a 1" valve. Do you have any more info on the emergency packs (I've no idea what you're talking about)? I actually WANT aluminum. The big issue with any tank is going to be the inlet/outlet port.
