: My new valve is rediculously fast. And, it's slamming my projectile with a burst of 800 psi Co2 slighlty off center of the projectile. It is actually tearing the fins off. Something I didn't have trouble with before. I was thinking about putting a diffuser in front of the 1/2" orifice. If I make the volume that the diffuser can handle about 10 times the volume of my orifice, how bad will it slow down my projectile?

This should be pretty easy to simulate. Take the volume of the proposed diffuser and calculate the length of your barrel that would have the same volume. Add that length to the barrel and use the same length as the initial position of the projectile. Voila! Your pressure won't ramp up as quickly but it shouldn't decay as quickly either. Net effect? Dunno...run the sim!
