: Is it still lethal after firing the airbag? ie, is the gas produced by the chemical reaction of the electrical current through the NaN3 just as deadly? Just curious.

There are actually three different reactions with different chemicals. Each reaction puts out nitrogen which is of course safe to breath. The second 2 are there to turn the chemicals into glass so that it is safe.
