You're exactly right, but my valve is pretty efficent, so shoot down is not a problem under normal use. I am concerned about shoot down when I go to full auto though.
I have been doing some design work on my new cannon today. I guess I need to be in the middle of the arms race. ;) I think I have a semi auto design that will be small enough to be man portable. I may build it instead of the heavier fully auto. I just gotta run some numbers to make sure I can get a good amount of shots from a 68/4500
