I don't think you should have a problem because I have a 68ci 4500psi PE tank with the Lapco DF and when the tank is screwed in all the way to the DF, The bottom of the tank reg where it fits into the tank is beyond the Grip Frame and since an 88ci is just a fatter 68ci I don't see a problem with clearing the DF.Hope this helps
