CO2 does not react with Aluminum OR Steel. Otherwise, they wouldn't use that material for safety considerations. If it has been filled several times and used, any Oxygen that was in the tank when you bought it is long gone. Your ON / Off valve Will leak out the contents. The only way to store CO2 is fill a tank with a regular valve stem.
