X-system cradle incidents

I'm using an x-cradle with on/off, the extended version on my cocker. I have a crossfire 4500/68ci tank. My problem is as you screw in the tank it pressurizes the gun, so basically the on/off is no use. I have taken the on/off completely apart and lubed it to make sure it slides all the way back and it does. I have a standard x-system on/off that I bought 3-4 months before this one on another gun and it works perfectly. The new ones valve is double 0-ringed and at least 1/8" longer the older on has a single o-ring. Should I grind down the tip of the valve to try to make it work, or try something else. Thanks for any help.
