: will a remote let liquid co2 get into my gun???

Yes. A remote is just a hose.

The one and only thing that will keep liquid CO2 out of your gun for sure is gravity. Liquid CO2 is significantly more dense than gaseous CO2, so it will always be in the bottom of the tank. If you draw from a part of the tank that is below the level of liquid, you will feed liquid.

An easy way to picture it is a 2 litre soda bottle that is half full. It will be filled with part gas (air) and part liquid (soda.) If the bottle is upright, and you give it a squeeze (to simulate the gas pressure inside a CO2 tank) it will make a little puff of air. That's like when you mount a bottle vertically on a gun. Now, if you lay it on it's side, and squeeze, it will spurt out soda, until the level of soda gets below the neck of the bottle, then it will just puf out air.

If you attach a hose to the bottle, when the bottle spurts liquid, the liquid will get forced through the hose. That's like having the tank on a bottom line or remote. If the tank is vertical, you are OK.

If you put an expansion chamber between the tank and the gun, the size of the chamber can come into play, because it too uses gravity to separate out liquid. The liquid goes to the bottom, but if it gets completely filled because the tank is feeding it liquid, it too will feed liquid to the gun.

So, in short, because a remote puts the tank vertically on your back, using it will usually keep liquid out of the gun. But, if you crawl, that lays the tank sideways, and it can then feed liquid to the gun through the remote.

See you on the field,
-Bill Mills
