Green;

Double checked again, and it occurs whenever a fully pressured air tank is connected. I also posted the question in the Custom 98 Forum, and based off advise in there I asked the shop I bought the gun from (one good arguement to buy local over internet) about the valve.

To make a long story short, the told me to not worry about trying to troubleshoot it anymore. They listened to it and thought it was something bad in the valve or the valve itself. They got ahold of Tippmann and just having the entire valve replaced per warrenty and reinstalling it for me.

Considering up to this point it hasn't affected on-field performance, I cannot complain about that!
: does it do it only with the gun un-cocked or does it also do it with your gun cocked. sometimes if your gun isnt cocked when you air up your gun your hammer is resting against the valve stem and causes a small leak that clears up when you cock the hammer back.

: if it leaks even when your gun is cocked it is probably the cup seal. not to easy to get to in a 98
