In Reply to: Recommend...Which Air Sys for an Eclipse Shocker? posted by erasure2 on April 02, 2002 at 22:29:27:

: I was just wondering which air system/tank you would recommend for an Eclipse Shocker?
: I have in mind the Air America ARMAGEDDON 68ci 4500psi or SP Max-Flo 68ci 4500psi system in the area of high end and high dollars.
: But I was also considering saving some money and going with a Pure Energy 68ci 4500psi threaded tank with a fixed output pressure since the Eclipse shocker comes with an gun mounted regulator which I could use to lower the pressure down to the 200psi operating pressure.
: Also I was wondering which drop foward/craddle everyone prefers. I live the KAPP Drop Zone 2, but it looks a bit awkard on a Shocker with a Max Flo tank system (too far foward?) . And I imagine the same on any other tank.

: Any recommendations or pointers are well appreciated.

-If you are using the stock Shocker Max Flow as the secondary reg, you can use literally any airsystem out there as your source.

I don't recommend running Shockers on other aftermarket regs. Although some of the better ones, such as an LP-sprung Stabilizer or Vigilante, will work, the Max Flow is simply a superior low-pressure/high-volume regulator.

Keep the Max, and feed it 700 to 900 psi from any other airsystem out there, and you'll be just fine. Flip a coin or make your choice based on cost or ergonomics- all will flow reasonably well and consistency is irrelevant as the Max does all the work there.

The Max Flow can, in fact, be used as a primary regulator. If you have the proper high-pressure-rated fittings, you can plug 3K psi right into the Max input and it'll work just fine.
