You need to know that your equipment is reliable and that you can get eliminations with it. If you're shooting a Tippmann or Kingman product, and you are not having any problems because of your equipment, then an expensive marker is going to do nothing but slim your wallet and cost you a few tournaments while you get used to the feel of the new equipment. Don't go spend a bazillion dollars on a new marker because your new teammates have done so in the past. If you do it, do it because the new marker is going to help your game. The way to tell this is to practice with the team, using your current equipment. Spend time shooting at the same target with a teammate by your side. You'll get a feel for whether your marker is as accurate as his. Practice will help you determine that the marker is only a small percentage of your ability to hit another player. By the way, what equipment were you using when they asked you to join the team? I'm assuming they've seen you play, because if they haven't you'd be stupid to already consider new equipment as a means to conform with the team. My point is that if they saw you play and invited you to practice with and/or join the team, they must have thought you were doing pretty well with the equipment in your hands. Keep it unless it costs you games, and be honest with yourself about blaming your equipment for your own mistakes.
