personally I am a fan of the Oracle cocker, its pretty much done as far as upgrade paths and its light and easy to tune/maintain.

I also recommend highly taking the time to learn the marker inside and out - learn how to tune and retime, learn how to fieldstrip and clean, learn how to systematically diagnose problems and fix em. Spending the time on the marker will give you the most bang for your buck no matter what you get.
