Evening folks, I've lurked for a while and played a few big games, but my experience and knowledge is barely above the brutal noob level. I need the help of a few guru's and I'd like as wide a scope of opinion as possible. My friend is planning on getting into paintball, and like anything he ever does - he's going all out. His desire is, out of the box, to pick up a sharp shooting, versatile, reliable and extreamly realistic looking marker. As of right now, cost isn't really a factor (God, I'd love to live in his world.) I know that whatever he gets will outshoot him, but I want to make sure the thing survives the punishment he gives it. Originally he wanted to get something modeled on the pulse-rifle from Aliens, but my research turned up very little - best I could do were a few airsoft conversion kits. Right now he's very interested in armotech weapons - either the model that looks like an Mp5-a4 or one of the models in their M16 family. Now what I need are suggestions - are these markers a good way to go? I've heard positive reviews but don't often hear them mentioned on here. Further, if these aren't worth the dough, what are alternatives that're still very realistic, but solid. Last question - I've got an old 98 custom that was originally a rental gun. It's served me pretty well (got me through Skirmish's D-Day last year without jamming) but I think it's time I moved up the ranks. I'm mostly a woods player, and I'm a good shot - What do you folks suggest in the $200 to $300 range as a versatile midsize rifle - something I could do a decent game of speedball with if I had to but more for woods. Any responses will be greatly appreciated, and if I left anything out, let me know. Thanks.
