The exact same thing happened to me with my custom 98 right out of the box.... Check the two black valve bolts, and make sure they are tight. If you go to www.tippmann.com and look at the parts list/picture for the custom 98, they are #8. They are the two black bolts that are on the right half of the body that attach the valve to the right half of the gun. If they are loose slighltly, the air pressure will escape, and it will do exactly what you described. This is something you should check when the gun does not cycle properly.
: I recommended the m98 custom to a little kid that I play paintball with. He has only had it a week and has used it two times, but today something went wrong and I felt so bad. See, the 98 will shoot one time, recock, but on the next shot it just stops and makes a little noise like the co2 is out, but it isn't. Then you have to recock it. It isn't his tank because my tank did it on the gun too. Please help me so this kid can play long into the future. (and so I don't feel as bad)Thanks
