In my experience, 285 seems to be optimal. It gives the flat trajectory the Flatline is designed for. Drop below it, and the ball arcs more in flight - go above it, and it actually curves upward then arcs. Yes, the ball will drift more at distance - but you can shoot that distance with the flat trajectory, which you can't do at all at lower velocities.
