hey, the pink thing is a ball latch. It is an anti double-feed mechanism. all good gund have one form or another of them. Tippmann 98 are kind of unique. the instructions other user gave are correct. The front bolt(pushes a ball into the chamber and air flows through it) WILL ride onto the ball latch, pushing it down. make sure the latch is put in so the bolt will press it flat, not bend it back...it will break off.
