My friend had the same problem, his O-ring was chewed up. He took it to the shop, and told them the prob, and that the O-ring might be the prob. "yea, um OK." they replied. THye then got some idea that the valve was messed up, and replaced it, at no cost, because of the service agreement with the store (he bought the 98 there) so He tried it, and it still wouldent fully re-cock, and took it back, they finally examined the O-ring,replaced it and the thing works like factory fresh! Moral, If you have good warrantys, let the "know-it-alls" think your $50 part is broke, and get free replacement, then buy the cruddy $.02 part, hmm... a $50 part for 2 cents? wow, strange times!
