Sometime down the road, you may want to replace the 98, but if you're just starting out it's fine. Play in the local level with it, and if you get serious and start playing in a tournament circuit, you may want something better. I used my FX 98 for a long time, but then I made a big jump to a Dark Angel, but unless you get really competitive, an upgraded 98 should do you right fine.

: : I'm fairly new to paintball, and am currently using a Custom 98. I am very happy with this marker, but would some day like to play tournaments. Will this marker be sufficient, or will I have to upgrade?

: There's no reason you can't be competitive with a C98. Tippmann Effect uses them and is a respectable amateur team. You may well want to switch to something else in the future playing tournaments, but don't let the fact that you're shooting a Tippmann now turn you away from getting started in tournaments.

: See you on the field,
