Well, an expansion chamber will help to shorten the distance. If you get one, be sure to check if it needs a 90 degree connection or if it simply connects... I assume you're using steelbraid in the case, you also need one for the drop forward. Another option is getting a macroline kit with either two 90 degree elbows or one 90 degree and one straight. This kit is nice because the hoses can be cut to your length, they're made of solid plastic so they splice easily. I'm not sure about length specifially, but personally the macroline kits work really well with hoses starting at about 1 ft each (you can find em at www.paintballgear.com or www.countypaintball.com).
