: Heck, I still use my first ever and only VL Revy, the old style banana shaped one, with the single 9V harness with no casing and wires sticking out. Hasn't broken yet!

To be picky, that's not a Revy. I'm not sure what they called the early models with no casing, but they were followed by the VL-2000, which had a casing. After that came the VL-2000 Shredder which had the casing and wired battery clips, and used 2 9v batteries to run at 18v. Then came the Revolution with 2 9v batteries and metal battery connection springs (no more wired clips to break) and it ran at 12v (so it didn't burn out motors like the Shredder.) Then Brass Eagle bought VL, and in 1999 changed the Revy board to pulse the IR eye so that sunlight wouldn't trigger the circuit in jem bodies. That had the side-effect of slower paddle response, and was replaced with the X-Board which had fast paddle response and the anti-sun technology.

I still have Revolution #00098, and it runs like a champ.

See you on the field,
-Bill Mills
