This is one I'm sure you've figgured out for yourself, but I'll answer for those who just don't know.

Was the gun cocked when you screwed in your tank? There is potential for the valve to be open if the gun is not cocked. So if air gets supplied, it's going out the barrel and every other ready oriface. if it was cocked, well then I can think of only one cause.

Not more than 10 minutes after I had got my A-5 I had fully dismantled it and managed to bork it a little. If just a little bit of pressure is put on the valves strike pin when the asa is not in place, the o-ring that keeps the valve together pops out. This can cause leakage of your air if you do not get the valve put back together and that pesky o-ring back in just right.
