: Hoppers replaced ten round tubes b/c they hold so much more, and when you can shoot 5 to 10 rounds per second, you need more ammo ready. : There are a few problems with using a magazine. First of all, it can't hold much ammo, the maximum you could carry in a practical sized clip would be 20 to 30 rounds, and that just isn't enough to keep up with high or medium ROF. Secondly, when you reload a magazine, it's not quite as convenient as popping a lid on a hopper and pouring a speed tube in. : But, you were talking about sniper guns, where u don't need a high ROF, or much ammo supply. And you're right, it would be easier to have magazines for those, but since they would only be practical on sniper guns, manufacturers wouldn't bother making guns that are compatible with magazines instead of hoppers. You'd only have a small number of people using sniper guns with magazines, and it just isn't a big enough market for some one to make these things. The sad truth is that many people nowadays use semi-auto guns, and have more of a spray-and-pray attitude, instead of using more strategy and stealth. : There are a few guns that use magazine style loaders, the AT-85 i believe has a 20 round clip, and another variation on the same gun has a larger, underbarrel mounted loader, but i don't know much about how those are set up. : Plus, since most guns have hoppers these days, it's just easier to have a universally compatible loading system, so u can use one hopper on almost any gun you might find. Well, I can make 100 round magazines, and they lie mutch lower than a hopper, also, for snipers, I figure that you could use weither mag, or hopper, and when going hopper make the thing shorter, and be balanced better. Also, I found that in a baretta 92's magazine slot, you can hold 12 rounds, on a special magazine. Thats a whole 12! if your using 12g then 12 is all you can use, so you wont have to worry about having a semi-charged C02 when you want to re-load both the clip and 12g, but the pistol might be rathar large.
