I'd consider the feed rate about equal, there is a VERY small advantage to vert feed in closed bolt markers like the cocker, and there is a little greater advantage to powerfeed in open bolt markers. However these differences are so small as to be hardly measurable.

The reason vert feed is more popular is balance. Vert feed markers just "feel" a whole lot better to hold than powerfeed markers.
